As someone that suffers from IBS, I have myself been through two sets of upper and lower GI's, and blood tests. I have seen three doctors and two GI Specialists. I was so sick and dehydrated at one point that I figured I would be dead in less than a month. I told the Doctors and Specialists, "Doctor I get up in the morning and throw up, everything I eat goes straight through and I can't retain fluids. I've lost forty pounds and may lose my job due to missed time at work". I typically got blank stares from the doctors.The last Specialist replied "You show no signs of illness, all the tests are negative, when we don't know what's wrong, we call it IBS." The Specialist said he could do no more for me and put me on a well known prescription medicine.

The high powered prescription didn't seem to help much but I found that antacids did make me feel better and Gatorade helped with the dehydration. I started the antacid treatment with liquid Mylanta but found it caused me to have a sore throat after about a week. I then started using Tums and Rolaids by the carton. I used Metamucil as a fiber supplement but found that fiber offers only slight improvement ....
